Fun Weekend of Fashion

godofpoop69This weekend was full of lolita and other good times.
I had a great meetup with the Boston old school comm. We waited over an hour for Kyo Matcha’s grand opening, and most of us thought that it wasn’t worth the hype… but hmart lobster rolls were. Lol
Then we walked around Brookline. I bought a leather harness from Buffalo Exchange, an exmilitary cassette (hopefully real??), and a Milk bag from my friend.
I also traded my 2004 btssb shirring jsk for my friend’s IW velveteen box pleat jsk! It’s been on my wishlist for so long. I didn’t think I’d get to own it… but it’s so lovely. I was debating this trade because my shirring jsk felt like a shit trade for an item as lovely as the IW jsk, but we each got what we were looking for.
Finally, my friend + a new friend and I went to Xmortis, a Boston goth club! I’ve loved goth music since sophomore year of high school, but never dressed or participated in the culture until now as I went to a… religious school and had Asian parents, lol. This was one of the best and most freeing nights of my life — i’ve never felt so safe and unjudged. Everyone looked so cool… and goth dancing is really fun. I usually don’t listen to industrial stuff (i’m a neoclassical and deathrock person hehe) but i loved itttt.
I had so much fun creating a gothic look. I don’t have a great Goth wardrobe yet, so I tried making something with what I had. The harness I got at Buffalo Exchange will definitely add to my collection.
If I’m being honest, one of the reasons why I joined lolita fashion was because of how conservative it was. I felt so scared and ashamed to wear anything tight fitting, and wearing goth/seeing people in all sorts of tight/revealing outfits at Xmortis made me feel so comfortable in my own skin. I will definitely participate in goth culture more from now on.
